DEPAUW UNIVERSITY

DePauw University

Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics

Designed by Lake Flato Architects and built above a reclaimed quarry, the Prindle Institute is Gold LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. DePauw’s commitment to sustainability and the architects’ careful consideration of the project’s environmental impact – plus innovative green building practices – have resulted in a unique learning facility with a low energy footprint.

Bybee Stone Company supplied the irregular cut blocks for this one-of-a-kind design. The use of limestone in both the exterior and interior is enhanced by cascading water and regionally harvested hardwoods; the whole effect is one that inspires thought and reflection.
